Beading

St Patrick’s Day was the regularly scheduled monthly meeting of the Palmetto Tatters. Many thanks to all the Palmetto Tatters who welcomed me as a new member with such open arms!  Pal Tatters March meeting

The website   www.palmettotatters.org   indicated that the pattern of choice that day would be one written by Nina Libin who had been a instructor at the 2011 Tat Days conference last September in Toccoa, GA.  The selected pattern was for making a pair of earrings using Nina’s technique called Beanile.  What a lovely thing Nina’s method of adding beads to tatting is!  I confess to being totally intimidated when looking over Nina’s class description before that conference and avoiding taking the seminars she was teaching out of fear either of them would be so far over my head.  But this was so natural!  It really was a joy to learn the technique!

In the end we were able to create a pair of earrings in the time allotted .  There were a number of combinations of beads and threads.  I worked off some #8 Perle Cotton using #11/0 Mill Hill beads of a similar color.

Once I got back home, I tried making another pair using silver lined 10/0 beads on metallic embroidery floss.  Each has its good points and its not-so-good points.

I thoroughly enjoyed it!
