Getting Ready for Easter

Since we began as a group, several members have chosen projects to work on.  Fran found a dozen pre-colored, light-weight wooden eggs and began the process of decorating them using tatting.  Fran is a needle tatter and her inspiration came at first from

Together we worked out the technique for tatting split rings using a needle.  That went very smoothly.  After that, we began trying to tat the other motifs suggested in the webpage listed above.  Some of the flowers proved to be a bit more difficult than we at first believed or hoped, so Fran turned to other motifs that fit the Easter theme.  One was one of the cutest bunnies any of us had ever seen.  Another had a hummingbird on each side.  Then she got really creative and began using the centers of snowflakes found in the publication “Festive Snowflakes and Ornaments.”   Once these were created, she secured them to the top and bottom of the egg and ran thread through the picots at the tips of each loop.
