‘Tis the Season

We have just passed Hallowe’en.  That means it’s time to prepare for Christmas!  Again this year, The Monte Vista is hosting “Deck the Trees” as a benefit for our local food bank.  We have had an entry in this event.  Finally we have accumulated a sufficient number of tatted snowflakes, bead icicles and garland to adorn a larger tree.  Our tree has been a 4 footer for all this time.  But this year we have acquired a 5 foot tree for the event.  AND we are creating larger ornaments.  This is BIG news!!

Through the years we have accumulated snowflakes, garland, icicles and a variety of smaller glass balls.  In a teaching session from about 6 weeks ago, we pursued creation of a split ring snowflake using a pattern by Wendy  Durell’s.  We have the pattern diagram in the patterns section.  The finished piece looked good laid over a round ball ornament but came up a little short so I added a round of outward facing four-ring motifs followed by strings of beads that joined to the previous round by trefoils.

My exsmple is done in a Flora size 20 red and white with matching beads.
